Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church’s school admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students of the school.  It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of educational policies, admission policies, and school-administered programs.

Students Receiving Indiana Parent Choice Scholarships

In any given school year, Trinity Lutheran School does not limit the number of students entering with Parent Choice Scholarships.

Enrollment Decisions

The gaining of children from outside the church is a mission venture of the school and is viewed as a challenge to the congregation.  The Day School Board reserves the right to make the final decisions relative to enrollment.

• Regardless of the class size limit, the children of “Divinely Called” workers will be accepted into the class.

Expectations for New Students

When applicable, a new student should be in good standing at his/her previous school.  A Trinity student is expected to use their God-given gifts to their full potential; show respect for God, others, self, and property; be faithful in school attendance; and be committed to their school.

Expectations of New Families

Parents are expected to uphold the Partners in Ministry agreement (required for enrollment) and support the educational program at Trinity Lutheran School.  Trinity’s education is centered first on the clear and unapologetic truth of God’s Word found in the Bible, and that truth is used as we teach the Indiana Academic Standards.  Parents are invited and encouraged to participate in the life of the Trinity church and school family.

Enrollment Procedure

• Parents will submit:
  • • A complete Student Application Form, which includes a “Release of Records” enabling a request for a complete transcript of records (academic, health, testing, disciplinary, etc.) from the most recent education provider.
    • A copy of the most recent report card, and a copy of the previous year’s report card if transferring midyear.
    • When applicable, a copy of the child’s most current IEP, academic evaluations, and/or behavioral evaluations.
    • A copy of the child’s birth certificate as per the Sate of Indiana law.  Indiana Code Indiana Code §20-33-2-10(C): If the proof of a student’s date of birth is not provided within 30 days of enrollment or appears to be inaccurate or fraudulent, the school shall notify the Indiana Clearinghouse for Information on missing Children to determine if the child is reported missing.  
    • A copy of the child’s current immunization record.
  • All 1st-8th grade students, whether new to Trinity or returning after a previous withdrawal student will be tested using a baseline academic assessment approved for that year.
  • Trinity will request records from the previous school upon receipt of the Student Application Form.  An enrollment decision cannot be made until the student’s school records are received and reviewed by Trinity.
  • Once all forms, paperwork, and testing are completed then parents and student(s) will attend an interview with the principal, which will include a review of the Partners in Ministry agreement (required for enrollment).
    • Following this interview, the principal will meet with teaching staff to review received records and testing results to determine the viability of educating the student at Trinity.
    • If the enrollment decision is uncertain, the information will be taken to the Day School Board for final decision.
  • If the child is accepted for admission, the family is expected to comply with the appropriate tuition policy requirements.
  • The final step in completing the enrollment process is completing online registration in the school information system.

Trinity’s Nine-Week Acceptance Policy

All new students to Trinity Lutheran School are subject to a nine-week acceptance period.   During these nine weeks, Trinity will evaluate the viability of being able to educate the new student.  A release from enrollment would be due to student conduct, a determination that the school is unable to meet the child’s needs, or a parent breach of the Partners in Ministry agreement.  (See Policy 2105)

Entrance Age Requirement

The State of Indiana requires that a child must be five (5) years of age on or before the date of August 1, in order to enroll in Kindergarten.  Any waiver of the age requirement is based on the policy of the Public School district in which the child resides.  (This is usually no more than one month.)  A family having a child with an August birthday would need to contact the local public school to arrange for screening.
